You must provide the following information to the bail bond agent. Before you call, gather this information.
- A detailed location where the person is being held along with the jail’s name
- Full name of the person along with the booking number, if available

Once you’ve discussed pricing options with the bail agent, you can sign a bond. A bail bondsman charges a non-refundable fee, ranging from 10-20% of the amount of bail.

Upon receiving the bail bond company’s fee, the bond agent will issue a surety bond to the court so the defendant can be released. As long as the defendant doesn’t miss any court dates and appears in court as required, there is no need to pay the bail bondsman any more money.
For defendants who fail to appear in court (aka “skipping bail”), the court will hold on to the money given to them by the bail bonding company as interest. Bail bond amounts will now be paid in full to a co-signer by friends or family members.
